3 Nigerian students beat 1,214 schools from 94 countries in IBDP exam
- Three Nigerian students has exceeded the world average score in 12 subjects in the recently held International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) examination
- The students had earlier won $1.3 million in scholarship to study in top international universities some months back
- The average scores of the students in the 12 subjects exceed that of 1,214 schools from 94 countries that sat for the examination
Three Nigerian students have exceeded the world average in 12 subjects in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) examination.
The students are from Greensprings School, Lagos. They were the same students who had won $1.3 million in scholarship to study in top international universities some months back.
In a statistics published by the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO), international body in charge of the sixth-form programme worldwide, in May 2019 IBDP examination, the average scores of the Greensprings students in the 12 subjects exceed that of 1,214 schools from 94 countries that sat for the examination.
The International Baccalaureate Diploma programme is a post-secondary school programme designed to prepare students for life in tertiary institutions. It is conducted by IBO, and students who sat for the programme are expected to have a minimum of five credits in their O’ Levels (GCSEs, IGCSEs or WASSCE) Mathematics and English inclusive.
Abidemi Arimoro who is the IB diploma coordinator for Greensprings School said he was happy by the achievements of the students. Speaking further he said the publication of the statistics has revealed that given a quality education, Nigerian students can compete excellently well with their counterparts all over the world.
He also stated further the commitment and determination of the students as he claimed they put in a great deal of work for them to come out in flying colours and thus making their achievements a well-deserved one.
